We all remember the days of trick or treating, carving pumpkins and picking out our costumes. Halloween was always fun for my children and I. They would dump out their candy and pick through and trade what they didn't want. Truth be told they had enough candy to last them a year after trick or treating. Unfortunately most of our children consume so much sugar year round in their everyday eating it is no wonder so many of our children are sick. When my son Jared was little I noticed the difference in his attention at school when I cut out the sugar in his lunch, That was my first clue to do more research. Now my kids are grown and trick or treating is a thing of the past. For many of you that are still raising your kids, we are about to embark on the start of the holidays. In many households this brings more candy, cookies, cakes and pies. Watch your children's behavior. Read the labels of what you are buying.
For example, conduct a test at home. For one week avoid foods and drinks that list on their labels Red#40, Blue#2, Yellow#5, sodium benzoate and Yellow#6. You may find your child is less fidgety.
When you start reading labels it will surprise you what you are really eating. Being your own advocate of what you are putting in your families body is a great way to avoid health problems down the line. By the time our children our teenagers many of them have hormone issues, allergies and various health issues. One of the first things I do when I am working with a client is looking what is in your food.

There are many alternatives to cutting these chemicals out of our diets. Most people don't know how good their body is designed to feel! Once your body is given food it can actually digest you will notice a difference. I have learned to get creative around Halloween. Scaling down on all the candy in our home came quickly when Jared was diagnosed with cancer. That doesn't mean we don't have fun and enjoy the fall. I tell people to embrace this change. Consider it an adventure! Now that the internet is at our finger tips it is so easy to look up healthier ideas and have fun creating!

As our children are enjoying the fall season let us remember its about the season, the memories and not all that junk food. This is the perfect time to change what you are eating. I can't tell you how many clients I have that tell me they wish they listened to me sooner after the diagnosis changes their life! We need to take action and be proactive for our families. Create lasting family memories by creating new healthier traditions!

I look forward to helping you and your family!
