We live in Central Arizona and it does get down to freezing in the winter evenings. This winter my parsley in my garden went out of control. I kept drying in using it in different cooking dishes and giving it away! Then is hit me, wait a minute someone is telling me to make parsley tea again.

A few years ago when my son was having kidney issues and fighting cancer I had him drink parsley tea. I took this as a sign and starting brewing massive amounts of tea and now our family drinks it warm or cold. It is amazing when things are right in front of you and you tend to forget the benefits.

Parsley Health Benefits

The herb contains valuable volatile oils and flavonoids. The volatile oil known as myristicin has chemoprotective benefits which means it can neutralize cancer causing agents and has been shown to prevent tumor growth. Flavonoids that are found in parsley act as antioxidants to protect cells from oxidative damage and stress.

Additional Benefits

Rich in many vitamins including vitamin A, K, B12 and vitamin C

Helps flush out excess fluid supporting kidney function

Daily use can help control blood pressure

Studies indicate parsley may have a role in inhibiting cancerous tumors

Scientists have referred to it as "chemoprotective food"

Easy to Grow

We live in Central Arizona and even though it gets cold here it doesn't stop my parsley from growing. Plant in a sunny location. Our location gets between 6 to 8 hours a day. I don't water it that often. It does spread though and will take over your garden so you have to keep an eye on that! Our parsley grows year round! It isn't difficult to grow and with so many benefits it is well worth putting your hands in the dirt. If you do not have an outside garden I have grown it indoors as long as you have a sunny window.

Making Parsley Tea

It is so easy to make this tea.

I cut a bunch ( 1 or 2 hanfuls) and put it in my pot.

I turn my burner on low and warm it for an hour and let it sit over night.

In the morning take the parsley out and you can warm it or drink it as is.

I try not to boil the tea but letting it sit over night gives it a mild taste.

Most people are surprised when they realize its not bitter. You can use dried parsley as well. I will even put it in our glass pitcher so we can drink it cold and I store it in our refrigerator.

Making this tea for me is healing. I just love making things myself. I know where it comes from and what is in it. There is something special about being a part of your wellness.
