The days are gone of us reaching for a candy bar in the check out line. That was something that was done more often than not. I can remember my children begging for a treat or my energy level was low and I found myself reaching for that candy bar. Heck it was just one right? Boy if I knew then what I know now. Between the sugar and chemicals in each bar the amount of detoxing you have to do is not worth it for sure.
We have all read how addicting sugar is. One of the biggest questions Jared and I get is how did you cut that out of your life? It was easy we just did it. You put your mind to it, realize how important it is and do it. I was addicted to sugar and as I stopped buying all of the processed sugar items calling my name in the store I got to the point where the cravings were gone.
My next challenge is when Jared had cancer he was 16. I was on a mission to create recipes to show him he didn't have to sacrifice his love for food. Think about it, all his teenage friends drinking their soda and eating fast food. I knew Jared was going to have to realize it was a lifestyle change! That is where my love came from to create healthier versions of the items he use to eat that frankly I wish had never touched his tongue.
Once in awhile chocolate still crosses our mind. Here is a simple way to cut your craving and at the same time give your body some love! As I always say, love yourself enough to love your health!
1 1/2 cups of melted coconut oil (we use organic, virgin)
1/2 cup of cacao powder (ours comes from The Raw Food World)
1/2 cup of nuts, raisins whatever you like (we use raw almonds)
stevia or raw honey to taste
*I triple the recipe to have extra for company and neighbors *

*mix all together in glass dish and put in freezer. When frozen I flip the container over and it comes out whole and I break it up
*store in freezer in pieces for those moments you just need a little treat!

Yes you will get some chocolate without the guilt here but now you are also getting great health benefits
